By stopping Nick Hinchliffe in the second round at King of the Cage Canada's recent ‘Turbulence' event, not only did Travis Galbraith emerge victorious in the highly anticipated rubber-match, the promotion's light-heavyweight champ made a big statement by also adding the Canadian middleweight title to his collection. With the championship victory, Galbraith recorded his 16th professional win, in a lengthy and successful career that dates back to 2001.
ÂÂ
‘Honestly, I feel like the first fight should have ended like this," Galbraith said, when asked for his thoughts on defeating Hinchliffe for a second time. The two fought in November, 2007, and April, 2008 respectively, with Hinchliffe winning their first encounter and Galbraith the second. "That's just the way MMA goes. I was being lazy with the hands and I got caught. My hat's off to Nick for seeing that opening but it shouldn't have happened to begin with. So I'm just happy to get past this finally."

Vancouver Island's MMA fans will soon have an opportunity to watch one of this nation's fastest rising prospects, as King of the Cage Canada has announced that the promotion's World and Canadian Lightweight Champion, Rory MacDonald, will take on accomplished welterweight Andrew Buckland, May 8th in Nanaimo, British Columbia. The 19 year-old MacDonald (7-0), who has continued to impress since turning pro at the young age of 16, captured headlines in November by knocking out highly regarded, former KOTC lightweight champ, Clay French. The veteran Buckland (8-3) is a force in his own right, however, and has competed against top caliber fighters like David Loiseau and Dan Hornbuckle. Recently, the Calgary fighter made his KOTC debut a successful one, by submitting Brandon MacArther with a second round armbar at the promotion's recent ‘Trooper' event.

This Friday, March 13th, the Maharaja Banquet Hall in Edmonton, Alberta, will be the spot where local MMA fans will have an opportunity to watch one of the more interesting middleweight title fights to take place in Canada for some time. Pride and Elite XC veteran Travis "The Gladiator" Galbraith (15-6) will square off with Nick Hinchliffe (10-3) for the third time, as each man has displaced the other from KOTC Canada's light-heavyweight crown in the past. In November, 2007, the up-and-coming Hinchliffe turned heads around Canada when he stopped the much more experienced Galbraith in the first round. The veteran fighter soon had his revenge however, as just over 4 months later, he handed Hinchliffe his first career loss at that point, submitting the Nanaimo fighter with a first round guillotine choke. Now each man is looking to entrench their spot in the 185lb. division, by taking home the middleweight belt Friday night.

Travis "The Gladiator" Galbraith laid claim to King of the Cage Canada's Middleweight Championship, on Friday, March 13th, as the highly regarded fighter stopped Nick Hinchliffe in the second round of their rubber match. Galbraith has now defeated Hinchliffe twice to add a title to his resume, as the Pride veteran took back the promotion's light-heavyweight title last April, by submitting the Nanaimo fighter in the first round at "Brawl at the Mall 3." With the win Galbraith improves his record to 16-6.
ÂÂ
"Galbraith put on an incredible show against a very worthy competitor," said promoter Ken Kupsch when asked about the main event bout for "Turbulence," which was hosted by the Maharaja Banquet Hall in Edmonton, Alberta. "He was very confident and prepared but I think he was impressed with what Hinchliffe brought this time too.

In what has the potential to be a rather explosive addition to KOTC Canada's upcoming "Turbulence" card, the promotion has announced that noted strikers Jared "J-Rod" Kilkenny and Shane "Doom" Biever, will square off in a catch-weight bout of 220lbs. on March 13th. The event will take place this Friday in Edmonton, Alberta, and will be hosted by the Maharja Banquet Hall.
"I thought cool," Kilkenny said, when asked for his thoughts upon being offered a bout with Biever. "He beat my coach right? (Lee Mein) Anytime you can go out there and fight someone who your coach has fought is awesome. I think stylistically me and Shane match-up really well. I'm sure he's going to stand and bang with me. That's cool. I'm more than willing to stand and bang with him. I've never really had anybody who was willing to stand in front of me for any amount of time. People always say they will, but usually after I pop them they start shooting for the legs."
