It wasn't the kind of result any one was hoping for when Ryan Chiappe and Jason Volpe fought for the Canadian Middleweight Championship at "Capital Excalibur" in July, a title fight that came to an abrupt end, when Chiappe was disqualified for poking Volpe in the eyes. Now, on November 28th, Chiappe and Volpe will have an opportunity to put all the controversy to rest, as the two middleweights will meet again for the belt at KOTC Canada's "Catalyst" event in Vernon, B.C.
"I'm not a rule maker, judge or a ref, but all I know I was that I was in complete control of the fight," said Chiappe, when asked recently to comment on his first bout with Volpe. "I thought it was close to being finished, but I guess the complaint was that he got poked in the eye. We got stood up and he was given the choice to continue or go on. I think he took the easy way out. That's not really for me to say though. I'm looking to the future now not the past."

Friday night Prince George's Adriano Bernardo hopes to demonstrate that the talented grappler's transition into MMA continues to be productive, as the judo black belt and Murray Sholty Jiu Jitsu fighter, will challenger Saskatoon's Curtis Suter for the King of the Cage Canadian heavyweight belt. The title fight will headline the November 20th "Accelerator" card, which will take place in Edmonton, Alberta's Mirage Banquet. The 33 year-old Bernardo seems well aware of what's at stake come Friday night.
"My plans were to just take a fight," Bernardo said. "When it ended up a being a title fight I thought ‘wow, this is a tremendous opportunity," but my first intention was to just take a fight. When Ken (Kupsch) came up with this I was pretty excited."

Curtis Suter understands that opportunity has come knocking at the former pro-hockey player's MMA door, as the Saskatoon fighter recently found out that he'll challenge Adriano Bernardo for King of the Cage Canada's heavyweight championship, November 20th in Edmonton, Alberta. After putting together a record of 4-1, since he started fighting professionally in 2007, Suter knows that a win next Friday would open up a new chapter in his young MMA career.
"I was pretty excited," said Suter, when asked for his reaction upon finding out about the title shot. "He's a pretty good opponent; he has well rounded skills. He's got good grappling but all around I was just really excited about the opportunity to fight for the belt. It seems like if you can get that belt and defend it a few times it can mean big things for you."

Rory MacDonald remains an undefeated fighter, after this past weekend's King of the Cage Canada "Disturbed" event in Edmonton, Alberta, as the 20 year-old-fighter knocked out the promotion's former light-heavyweight Canadian champ Nick Hinchliffe in the second round. While extending his record to 9-0, the Team Toshido welterweight once again demonstrated why he is one of Canada's more promising prospects.
"The Hinchliffe, MacDonald fight was very exciting," said KOTC Canada promoter Ken Kupsch. "Even though he lost this one, Hinchliffe has tremendous talent and will be a big force in the welterweight division. MacDonald was again, unbelievable! I am not sure what direction he will take now, but he has a very promising future ahead of him in MMA. What a pleasure it is to work with both Impact MMA and Toshido!"
