These are interesting and monumental times in the young MMA career of Raphael Bergmann. In February the 38 year-old-fighter entrenched his presence in the national heavyweight rankings, when he defeated former champion Adriano Bernardo by Unanimous Decision, to lay claim to the King of the Cage Canadian title. Now, Bergmann will have an opportunity to showcase his skills for an international audience, as recently KOTC confirmed that the 4-0 fighter will face Tyler East, May 14th, in New Mexico.
"I was excited to hear about competing against Tyler East," said Bergmann. "He is a world level King of the Cage contender and if there is anyone who will show me the holes in my game, on the fly, well that will be him. He will make me a better fighter, so it's a big win for me no matter what, and I expect to win."

Title bouts are often the defining points of any fighter's career; not only do they mark any incredible opportunity for further success and notoriety, but one must defeat another athlete, whose talent and drive has also earned them a title shot. On March 26th, at the Mirage Banquet in Edmonton, Mike Davis will find himself in this exact situation, when he takes on Clayton Sheen for King of the Cage Canada's Flyweight Championship.
"I was pretty happy," said the 23 year-old Davis, when asked for his reaction upon finding out he would fight for a championship belt. "I knew I had to fight Clay though, which is a really, really tough fight, so it was good but a little nerve wracking. You can't say no to something like that though."

Dan Severn: "This Old Dog Still has a lot of Bite" |

Dan Severn will be the first to concede that the 110 fight plus veteran, UFC Hall of Famer and decorated wrestler's days as one of MMA's premier fighters are passing behind him, but that doesn't mean that "The Beast" isn't still more than capable of adding to his extensive win column. In fact, this was the message that Severn had for Canadian MMA fans just days before he will face heavyweight Buddie Dixon, at King of the Cage's "Thunderstruck II" event in Calgary on March 18th.
"I think this is probably a great opportunity for him," said Severn, when asked for his thoughts on the upcoming bout with Dixon. "He's a newer guy on the scene. That's probably the best way of looking at it for him. The reality is that I'm Dan Severn, I'm 51, okay? The reality is that I'm not the same war dog that I once was, but at the same token, you better watch out because I didn't rule the world at one point for no reason. So those that take me a little bit more lightly because of my age, well, they might be surprised; this old dog still has a lot of bite to his bark."

A quick examination of Shannon "The Cannon" Ritch's extensive record reveals that winning by submission is nothing new, and at King of the Cage Canada's "Nailbiter" event in Edmonton Friday night, the jiu-jitsu black belt added another tap-out victory to his 150 fight plus record. Taking on the always tough Elmer Waterhen, Ritch countered a hard kick from Waterhen early on, by taking the bout to the mat and ending it with a first round toe hold.
"He hit me with a pretty good kick so I decided to take him down," Ritch said. "I got him with the heel hook and then switched it to a toe-hold to get the tap."
"I thought it was a good fight," the 39 year-old-Pride-veteran added. "I tried standing up to put on a show for the fans, threw some wild kicks; thought it was pretty good. Leg locks are my go to. If I can't knock him out I'll go for a leg lock submission."
